The New EU regulation on chemicals came into force on 1st June 2007 named as REACH - Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals.
What is REACH?
REACH stands for Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals. It is a European Union regulation on chemicals that came into force on 1st June 2007. This regulation impacts all substances, preparations, and articles manufactured or imported into the European Union, with certain exemptions such as polymers, food additives, minerals, agricultural products, and specific chemicals.
REACH regulation background
Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council dated 18 December 2006 concerns the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH). It was published in the Official Journal on 30 December 2006. This regulation also amended Directive 67/548/EEC relating to the classification, packaging, and labelling of dangerous substances.
